I worked with Glogster and created a poster to help English Language Learners to understand a type of figurative expression in English. I had never used this application before or even heard of it. I found the application easy to use and somewhat entertaining. There is focus on presenting the material in an eye-catching way. I value having the ability to add the images, videos, and audio. It allowed for a lot of creativity with the variety of fonts, colors, images, and themes. My complaint is that it is hard to fit a lot of detailed information on this application. It seems to be more for the entertainment value rather than the educational.
I think this might effective for teaching grade school level learners because they can be taught basic information in an engaging way. The features of adding YouTube videos and audio clips could allow the teacher to present the information in a variety of ways, stimulating the visual and audio side of learning. I believe it is user-friendly enough, that even grade school kids could make a Glogster poster of their own. It could be a fun way for them to research information and present it to the class. Thus, I see the educational value of Glogster in both using it for the teacher to convey information and also having the students self-teach through making their own posters.
